ABSTRACT

This chapter continuous the description of the steps in the Collaborative Family Work model. The family members are then asked to complete the family functioning rating sheets. The worker may need to prompt the family members if they are unsure of what to say or if they become focused only on one issue. The problems should be listed under each family member's name. The workers then consider which of the problems are common to all or most family members. Collaborative Family Work aims to help family members to develop positive methods of communicating with each other, whether it is through addressing 'real' or peripheral issues. Depending on the number of family members involved, and the extent to which they talk, the problem identification may take up much of the second session. The worker may have a checklist of issues in their mind which they may use to prompt the family members.
