ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the need for ongoing review in each session, the way the final session can be used to maintain the gains that have been made and how the family work can be evaluated. The final session provides an opportunity for the worker and family members to review progress and to set in place plans to maintain the gains that the family has made. In the final session, Arun and Darwin were asked again to rate the level of functioning within the family. The model seemed to work well in this setting because it encouraged family members to take responsibility for family problems rather than blame the offender. Darwin felt that the family was getting along considerably better than when the counselling began, and that the one problem they most wanted help with was much better.
