ABSTRACT

The facilitation of evaluation around these cycles of inductive and deductive action evaluation can take place in each of the following examples from the micro to the macro. Eventually, they may settle as more 'tried and true', although retrospective evaluation may continue and still require some open questions to enable new cycle of change. Annual discussion meetings could be held at the group's ordinary first or last general meeting of the year, or at a special 'day away' or residential workshop of up to two or three days' duration. Program evaluations need to rely on and build on a fabric of detailed evaluation activity 'at the coalface' that has been going on at smaller scales over the previous three to five years. The following is an example of a committee self-evaluation of a funding program, where the committee had experienced three years of operation, funded many projects, giving them a perspective that would otherwise have been difficult to achieve earlier.
