ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors move on from the process of formulating topic and research questions to the steps people will take to undertake their research. They focus on the steps people must now undertake to complete their research, is designed to demystify the research process by breaking it into a series of comfortable stages that people can use as a model for their research projects. A variety of factors will influence the content of research design—its subject-matter, scope, methodology and so on. Some agencies provide support and seed funding for small research projects that, while they may be small, are excellent sources of funds for ‘learner’ researchers. If funding is available for a small project, there may also be an opportunity within the agency to discuss project with more experienced researchers. The availability of advanced computer systems and administrative support staff will allows to complete more detailed and complex research.
