ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the procedure for obtaining and interpreting a Pearson product moment correlation coefficient is presented, along with Spearman Rank Order Correlation. It demonstrates the use of correlation, the authors explore the interrelationships among some of the variables included in the survey.sav data file provided on the website. The survey was designed to explore the factors that affect respondents' psychological adjustment and wellbeing. Before performing a correlation analysis, it is a good idea to generate a scatterplot. This enables the students to check for outliers and for violation of the assumptions of linearity. Inspection of the scatterplots also gives a better idea of the nature of the relationship between the student’s variables. To generate a scatterplot between independent variable and dependent variable.
