ABSTRACT

In this chapter, two different types of one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) are discussed: first, between-groups ANOVA is used when the students have different participants or cases in each of their groups and second, repeated measures analysis of variance is used when the students are measuring the same participants under different conditions. One-way between-groups ANOVA is used when the students have one independent variable with three or more levels and one dependent, continuous variable. The 'one-way' part of the title indicates there is only one independent variable, and 'between-groups' means that the students have different participants in each of the groups. The Descriptives and Test of homogeneity of variances tables generated as part of this output are the same as obtained in the previous example for one-way ANOVA with post-hoc tests.
