ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of mixed between-within subjects analysis of variance (ANOVA). If the students intend to use this technique in their own research, read more broadly. To illustrate the use of mixed between-within subjects ANOVA, the author use the experim.sav data file included on the website that accompanies this chapter. These data refer to a fictitious study that involves testing the impact of two different types of interventions in helping students cope with their anxiety concerning a forthcoming statistics course. The output provides tests for the assumptions of sphericity, univariate ANOVA results and multivariate ANOVA results. The reason for interpreting the multivariate statistics is that the univariate statistics make the assumption of sphericity.
