ABSTRACT

This chapter provides guidance for researchers unfamiliar with presenting qualitative research in a written form. Important factors to consider when writing about qualitative research project are the intended audience, the methodology of the project, rigour, ethics and the purpose and context of the research. The findings from qualitative research projects are usually greatly interesting; however, books, articles and reports describing this research often go unread because they are written in a boring way. Richardson advises researchers to try and capture the vivid and creative nature of their research through effective writing practices. The chapter provides a discussion about the background to qualitative research writing. It discusses the storytelling aspects of qualitative research and the importance of striving to 'tell a good story' when writing about readers research. The chapter closed with some final tips for ‘good’ writing about qualitative research provided in the form of a checklist.
