ABSTRACT
This chapter describes the first few years of the post-colonial Indian diplomacy under G. S. Bajpai and Nehru as the prime minister. It describes the relationship between Bajpai and Nehru, and India’s foreign policies in relation to the crises of the 1940s and ’50s, including the Chinese occupation of Tibet, the North Korean attack on South Korea and the USSR’s attitude towards India.
