ABSTRACT

The excerpts presented in this chapter celebrate the life and the work of Keith Haring and BLU, two street artists who defined an era and who affirmed the importance of artistic expression outside of museum walls: in the streets, where life is in a continuous state of happening. Haring had a very prolific relationship with Italy, and Pisa has the fortune of permanently hosting one of his last murals: Tuttomondo. BLU, on the other hand, is considered the Italian Banksy for his unapologetic and provocative work brimming with social and political controversy. Through linguistic and visual narrations, learners will be able to explore their fascinating work of street art and to carry their artistic legacy into the 21st century.
