ABSTRACT

Published in March 1868 by the NUCCA, on the retirement through illness of Derby from the premiership and his succession by Disraeli, Practical Suggestions to the Loyal Working Men of Great Britain called for newly enfranchised working men, through constituency Conservative Associations, to support the Conservative government. Unlike the Whig oligarchic faction, the Conservatives were a national patriotic party carrying forward the historic Tory commitment to the people and the harmony of all social classes.
