ABSTRACT
The introduction provides background as to how the author came to this research (dating apps, intimacy and COVID-19). It also provides some brief background on dating apps and the key concepts explored within this book: the search for romance and how this conflicts with dating apps, the uncertainty produced by COVID-19 and how this pushed people towards more known or understood romantic narratives, and how gender is performed on dating apps. It also introduces the reader to the concept of ‘jagged love’ – the cyclical/episodic process which occurred on dating apps during COVID-19.
