ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the role that unemployment has for young people’s social inclusion. Placing social relations at center stage, it analyzes the forces that threaten informal networks and patterns of sociability. By doing so, the chapter aims to unveil the potential fragility of informal networks, pinpoint those forces that are associated with social isolation, and identify factors that enable young adults to keep up their contacts in adverse circumstances.
