ABSTRACT
Previous chapters have emphasized reason and knowledge as key elements in the educational enterprise. Our selfhood is tied up with our minds; our ideal is individuals who can determine what to do for themselves in the light of good understanding and sound reasoning; education is the development of understanding of powerful and distinctive bodies or types of thought.
