ABSTRACT
Following Peters, I have argued that education involves the transmission of a broad range of worthwhile understanding in morally acceptable ways, while developing commitment to the standards and procedures inherent in different types of inquiry. Educated people will also have cognitive perspective and be transformed or changed to some degree by their understanding.
