ABSTRACT

Based on interactionist victimological theories, the victimological process of extrafamilial elderly sexual abuse is analyzed using victim characteristics, the victimological context, and victimization characteristics. The sample used in this study included 443 cases of sexual assaults against elderly people aged 65 and older. The results indicated that there are three main victimological processes: The victimization during outdoor activities, the victimization during domestic activities, and the victimization while the victim was sleeping. The results are important for both theory and practice regarding elderly sexual abuse in an extrafamilial context.
