ABSTRACT

In the story The Silent Selkie, the Selkie cannot speak out loud using words, but communicates her feelings through the weather. When she feels sad, dark clouds gather. When she feels upset, it begins to rain. When she feels cross, the wind howls like wolves. Though the Selkie behaves in these different ways, this is her behaviour – not who she really is inside. Her behaviour is communicating something that she cannot yet explain or express using words.
