ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses what expertise people will need to acquire in the US, Europe and the rest of the OECD area over the next 20 years. It focuses on the general and specific competences that will be in demand. The chapter explores communication, creativity, collaboration and change competences related to the new technology. It investigates the following question: What general and specific competences will be in demand in the Fourth Industrial Revolution? The chapter examines communication in relation to the new technology. Intelligent robots, intelligent informats, artificial intelligence and evolutionary and genetic algorithms will not only affect us as consumers, but also as citizens. When artificial intelligence is further developed towards singularity, the probability is that information and communication functions in the workplace will be more or less fully automated.
