ABSTRACT

This chapter profiles four organisations that are either disabled focused or disabled led and considers their artistic vision and body of work in relation to activism. It explores these organisations’ approaches to working in this space, considers the idea of role models through a conversation with DJ, a dancer with Corali Dance Company, and promotes the concept of the inclusive canon. The chapter looks at how disabled-led and disabled-focused organisations can help a school to develop a rich and inclusive approach to employment routes and support their compliance with the Gatsby benchmarks. It demonstrates how we can embed these organisations within the structure of the Arts Award qualification. Drake Music is the leading national organisation working in music, disability, and technology. Drake Music works in this space as a technological specialist to enable more people to make music using technology to break down barriers.
