ABSTRACT

In general, a supply chain strategy can be defined as a formal written plan that details what actions the organization is going to take over a multi-year horizon. A supply chain strategy therefore, is extremely important, as the supply chain can account for 60-80 percent of a company's total revenue, which is a large number that deserves detailed, multi-year planning. The 6th Annual State of the Retail Supply Chain Report surveyed members and readers and found the following strategic options: Drive company growth through SCM E-commerce, while a small part of retail sales, is where most of the growth in retail can be found. Survey results indicate that in response to today's consumer, who expects an integrated, faster purchasing transaction, and the growth of e-commerce, 78 percent of logistics companies expect to provide same-day delivery by 2023 and 40 percent anticipate delivery within a two-hour window by 2028.
