ABSTRACT

This chapter brings together some of the guidance from earlier chapters, and focuses on how to submit a strong dissertation and do well. It is good to remember that a first-class dissertation is a culmination of hard work at every step of the journey rather than a result of a magic formula. A first-class dissertation contains an original research question; excellent research; and well-presented authoritative findings. This chapter reminds you of those steps and what examiners are looking for when marking dissertations. The chapter also focuses on fails, and how to overcome a fail. Failing a dissertation is luckily very rare but the chapter gives practical guidance on how to avoid fails, and how to prepare for resubmission after a fail.
