ABSTRACT

What is a research plan, and how does it differ from a proposal? A research plan is an opportunity to explain research design. It is a longer document than a proposal, and it sets out your research aims and objectives. It often also includes a review of literature along with an explanation of methodology. While it is rare for undergraduate dissertations to include a full research plan, it is common at Masters level. This chapter gives practical tools and guidance on how to tackle research plans, and formulate aims and objectives for a research project.
