ABSTRACT

The Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda is a radical political agenda that seeks to transform peace and security governance and bring an end to militarism and structural violence. There is labour that goes into maintaining a commitment to the feminist originating principles of the WPS agenda. Civil society organisations frequently espouse a commitment to holistic approaches to peace and to the prevention of conflict – but are concerned that these elements are being lost in 1325 work. Bringing the agenda, and the actors involved in its implementation back to its feminist foundations requires sustained advocacy and effort; in this chapter, we explore this work.
