This chapter covers using Simul8 to conduct output analysis for terminating and non-terminating simulations. Simul8 can be used to analyse the double-queue bank clerk simulation constructed in chapter 7C. Before the analysis can begin, however, an adjustment to the code must be made to ensure the simulation is a true terminating system. At present, the simulation starts from empty, and then customers arrive at the bank with a runtime specified of 480 minutes. To be a true terminating system, the simulation must reach its starting condition (i.e. empty system) at the end of its run. To achieve this, the simulation must stop receiving new customers after a certain time period and then service any remaining customers in the system. From the start point menu, select the Constraints button and enter 480 for the limit of the duration of arriving work items (figure 9C.1).
