ABSTRACT

On 26 February 1997, I had the privilege to be a witness of Action, a ‘creative opus’ performed by Thomas Richards, Mario Biagini, and four other ‘doers’ from the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards in Pontedera, presented at the Wrocław Ossolineum Library. The relation from Action is supplemented by a few reflections on Grotowski's creative path, the performative specificity of the ‘creative opus’ and the future of the Centre after Grotowski's passing. The text was written shortly after my visit to Wrocław, but the problems touched in it and the questions asked in it are, in my opinion, still valid.
