ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on state crime across the globe. We begin with our definitional framework of state crime along with a list of examples of types of harms, crimes, and violence that states have and do commit. We then provide a broad array of examples of states’ crimes and harms, including those related to COVID-19, surveillance and predictive policing, propaganda campaigns, cybercrimes, forced sterilizations, ethnic targeting and oppression, forced sterilizations, to and proxy wars and covert conflicts.
