ABSTRACT

The Tang poetry marks the peak in the development of classical Chinese poetry, which is due to the maturity of ancient Chinese feudal society in political, economic, cultural, and other aspects as well as the long-term development and final maturity of ancient Chinese poetry represented by the five- and seven-character poetry. It is not until the peak of the Tang poetry that quatrains became the most active form of expression in the poetry circle. Moreover, in the 100 years of prosperity and development of the Tang society, its national strength rose to a peak and earned itself more prestige on the frontier defence; thus it seized the chance to live peacefully as a matter of fact. The artistic attainments, and the brilliant and abundant achievements of the Tang poetry are inspiring the reader to understand the peak of poetry in many ways.
