ABSTRACT

The great achievements of poetry in the Tang Dynasty have drawn extensive attention from scholars of the past dynasties as they hope to draw something new from it for reference. It is precisely because of the poetic pursuit since the Jian'an era, and the need to extract the language of poetry from language of prose that leads to the poeticisation tendency of prose itself. Thus, Su Dongpo thinks that the poetry of Tao Yuanming is "apparently plain but actually flowery, seemingly barren but factually fertile"; at first glance, it seems careless and thoughtless, but after second thought awesome expressions are found'. Of course, there are nearly "natural works as if from heaven" in poetry, which are considered only occasional and impossible to create with skills. However, since language is the only medium of poetry, it directly affects the development level of the poetry circle, and the enrichment process of vocabulary belongs to poeticisation of the language in the Tang poetry.
