ABSTRACT

Digital journalism does require some specific skills, most of them around knowledge of the various tools at your disposal, and how to use and get the best out of them. Journalists are not expected to be experts in coding and design, and some technical and graphic design tasks will always require people with a specific background in those areas. Social networks are an integral part of the journalism business, and open up many opportunities for research and communication as well as for the dissemination of news. They also extend the reach of what you have to offer, helping you find audiences that might not naturally be aware of your material and do not use mainstream media sources. The more news people read on the internet in general, and social media in particular, the less they seem to trust it. Since trust is the absolute foundation stone for any news provider, this is a cause for concern.
