ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the forms and paths of rurality transformation, and how such transformation contributes to the ordering of the village. As rural residents embark on a massive wave of migration for work, and as the village community goes through profound changes, the villagers' ties with the soil and the countryside are also changing, which in turn transforms rurality. Based on format and content, there are three kinds of rurality transformation. Among the three types of innovation, old content in a new form and new content in an old form are more common. It takes the example of the villagers' ideas of family to illustrate the path of rurality transformation. Rural traditions need to be explored and developed to promote endogenous growth to counter the negative impact of underpopulation and improve social order in the village.
