Other research has found that we tend to over-emphasise the significance of our own actions. For example, one such study found that people consistently overestimate their own contributions towards a group task. Likewise, other research has found that we tend to assume that our version of reality is objective and not subjective. Finally, we tend to assume that other people will have the same perception as ourselves. These three factors combined can lead to a wide variation in how two people interpret the same event.
