ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the strategic partners who make educators work possible and begins to articulate how the logistics of their collaboration produces a meaningful learning experience for digital storytellers and usable digital stories for historical societies and other community partners. Educators assembled four strategic partners based on their mission statements and relationship to their partnership goals. Four strategic partners can be easily adapted to multiple configurations based on the project needs and community availability. In short, each semester the educators work with the following partners: educational institutions, regional history centers, digital storytellers, and local historical societies and organizations. From preschools to high schools to adult learning centers, educational institutions provided the tools necessary for people to access information and ideas. Regional history centers collect, protect, and make accessible local and regional history in all forms and formats. Digital storytellers are any persons willing to create a digital story using historical resources.
