ABSTRACT
This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book focuses on the questions about the nature of using computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools in freelance translation. It discusses the typology of translator-technology interaction and its impact on the translation workflow. The book then examines the issue of anxiety in freelance translation experienced by translators confronted with technological issues. Given that the use of technology exerts a significant impact on the translation process, the book also examines the adverse effect of CAT technology on the translator’s cognitive and metacognitive skills. To illustrate present trends and practices in the application of CAT tools, the book discusses the findings of the exploratory study on freelance translators in Poland, conducted using the Computer-Assisted Web Interview technique. The results of the study have been processed using SPSS statistics software. The data revealed a considerable reluctance of translators to use CAT tools in freelance translation.
