ABSTRACT
For better or worse, the debate over whether free will is compatible with determinism has dominated the free will discussion for hundreds of years. At the most basic level of description, determinism is just the idea that the past determines the future: the way the past was entails everything about the way the future will be. In this chapter we will look at the idea of determinism in much more detail.
