ABSTRACT
Another type of moral luck also has to do with circumstances, but focuses on the antecedent circumstances that led up to a moment of choice. Consideration of antecedent circumstances leads naturally to concerns about determinism, but it also leads to questions about whether and to what extent someone’s personal history makes a difference to their freedom and responsibility. We’ll consider some of these questions about the importance of history in this chapter.
