ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the nuts and bolts of a theory of living human systems (TLHS) and its systems-centered therapy and training (SCT) and introduces how “thinking” systems offers a different way of thinking about people. We introduce illustrations to help visualize the theoretical systems definitions. “Seeing” systems also helps us learn to think systems and not just people. Using systems language also allows us to generalize from one system to another, be it a person, a member of a family or group or team, a subgroup in a group or the group-as-a-whole. This chapter concludes with a chart showing the theoretical statements, the basic constructs and their operational definitions with shorthand visual illustrations of these constructs.
