ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we define and illustrate how life force energy fuels the hierarchy of living human systems. Energy and information are defined as equivalent and are organized as communication vectors that fuel and flow through the systems hierarchy. Communication vectors carry both information and noise. Drawing from Shannon and Weaver, the degree of noise in the communication vector predicts the potential for the information to cross the boundaries within and between systems. We also introduce how we have adapted Lewin’s force field to chart the driving and restraining forces in communication vectors, and discuss how communication vectors are influenced when using functional subgrouping.
