ABSTRACT

Between 2006 and 2008, the GPT returned to both local and national election campaigning. In order to understand the GPT’s latest phase, I will examine three campaigns during the first half of the Pan Han-sheng era. These are the 2006 Taipei City Council election, 2008 national parliamentary election and 2009 Taipei parliamentary by-election. In each election case, I will first examine the GPT’s campaign strategies and then look at how best to explain its electoral performances. I am therefore returning to two of my core research questions.
