ABSTRACT

The narratives presented in this chapter were written by Samuel Stones as part of his MA dissertation. The study used the life history method to create narratives of four educators in England. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data. Themes were drawn out of each narrative and then common themes were identified across all four narratives. The data suggest that the personal experiences of some of the teachers influenced their professional identities. For some, their personal and professional identities were intertwined but for one teacher, there was a deliberate decision made to separate both identities.
