ABSTRACT

Working in partnership with young people to advance inclusion and social justice provides them with a transformative experience and supports the development of agency. LGBTQ+ young people and their allies can be supported to develop policies and practices which will nurture the development of LGBTQ+ inclusion. Parental resistance to such work often occurs when parents misunderstand what the school is trying to achieve. In these circumstances, a process of consultation is important and this should support the development of positive relationships.
