ABSTRACT

This chapter brings together the insights of the analysis conducted in the previous two chapters concerning the UN-Habitat and 100 Resilient Cities. On this basis, an analytical framework for studying urban resilience is extracted, composed of knowledge, technology, and finance. These components are, in turn, identified as the strategies of governance of cities and urban populations, to be traced and explored in subsequent chapters dedicated to Barcelona, San Francisco, and Santiago. Finally, the chapter makes an introduction and addresses the selection of city cases for analysis.
