ABSTRACT

This chapter critically reviews the notion of psychological intervention and its principle practical modalities. It takes up Nikolas Rose’s reflections regarding the role of the devices, techniques, and procedures of psychology as a function of achieving consistent processes for normalizing and efficientizing social life and, in this context, reflects on the forms of dialogicity and interlocution that are deployed as fundamental discursive tools or recourses directed at attaining, from within psychology itself, the full capturing and subjection of individuals. Following this logic, the chapter identifies and evaluates some of the most important critical expressions in the territories of “Psy” theory and practices, including antipsychiatry, counterpsychology, and critical social psychology, among other alternatives.
