This chapter details how data analytics is used to address the challenges faced by the healthcare industry and how it has enhanced the clinical and business components of healthcare. Healthcare is essential to people regardless of where on the planet they live. Drug manufacturers consist of biotechnology firms, pharmaceuticals companies, and makers of generic drugs. Medical equipment producers range from companies that manufacture standard and popular products such as scalpels, forceps, bandages, and gloves to those that carry out innovative research and produce hi-tech equipment. Healthcare facilities companies operate hospitals, clinics, labs, psychiatric facilities, and nursing homes.
