ABSTRACT

Data mining, also known as data discovery, is an automated analytical method that allows businesses to extract usable information from large datasets. It focuses on identifying and predicting patterns, behaviours, and future trends that emerge from a specific dataset, thus allowing companies to make better decisions. This chapter examines how data and text mining leads to a better decision-making process for businesses. The evolution of data mining started with the storage of business data in computers and technologies, allowing users to navigate data in real time. Data mining can help businesses learn more about customers to develop more effective marketing strategies, improve customer relationships, better decisions, reduce risks, increase revenue, and decrease costs. Pattern Recognition examines the available data and seeks to identify any regularities or patterns within the data using machine-learning algorithms.
