Sometimes a good idea requires some start-up funding to get it off the ground or an idea that will pay off in the long run might be expected to experience some costly years and annual deficits in the beginning. Break-even analysis helps a manager forecast what it will take for the initiative to turn the corner and how long it will take to get there.
