ABSTRACT
Managers and analysts who wish to assess the financial condition of their local government need an assessment tool that is sufficiently comprehensive to do the job but not so difficult to use that it imposes an unreasonable burden on the staff attempting to use it. A practical assessment tool that relies on data typically reported in the annual financial statements of local governments is highlighted in this chapter.
