ABSTRACT
Statistics for some types of performance jump around from year to year and from month to month. This year’s or this month’s number may be less informative than examining average performance over a longer period of time. Perhaps the average annual performance over the past three years or the average monthly performance over the past 12 or 24 months would be a better reflection of the performance norm. That is when moving averages come into play.
