ABSTRACT
Two basic techniques of statistical analysis—correlation and chi-square—reveal the extent to which different variables are related to each other. If changes in one interval-level variable are associated with changes in another, the correlation coefficient will show it. The chi-square test allows an analyst to determine whether an association exists between categorical variables, typically variables appearing in a contingency table.
