ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on Agribusiness and Agroecology. It also focuses on Agribusiness eco-docs, chemical and bio-technology as it affects the land, the insect world, in particular bees, and farmers caught up in this so-called Green Revolution. Since the 1970s there have been huge demographic shifts both in terms of human migration to the urban environment and population growth. The structuring element, ultimately, however, comes down to the four elements associated with Monsanto. Rice farmers in Sri Lanka were not told how toxic Roundup was, nor how it would impact upon their health. Since the mid-1990s, when Roundup was first introduced, nearly half a million rice growers have developed chronic kidney disease which a toxicologist concludes is derived from exposure to Roundup spraying and from its leaching into the water supply.
