ABSTRACT

The results of the Dantotsu-II quality activities that were carried out at the six forklift manufacturing companies of Toyota Industries group in Japan, U.S.A., and Europe for “reducing claim costs” are shown below. Therefore, aiming for improvements in working methods, which was the main theme of Dantotsu-III, the people started with finding out where the problem existed in working methods or habits at the design and production preparation stages concerning each claim. However, during actual mass production of new models, trouble frequently occurred, causing a panic. Therefore, even if there is a delay in production preparation, the people had to start mass production as scheduled, so that various problems occurred, such as outflow of many quality defects, production delays due to various trouble, and delayed dispatch of vehicles, resulting in major waste.
